AusMedtechInvest 2024 is Australia’s inaugural boutique medtech investment roundtable forum, and aims to build meaningful personal connections between innovative medical technology (devices and diagnostic) businesses and investors, and help great ideas attract the capital needed to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive market.

Globally recognised for its ground-breaking research & development and strong biotech innovation ecosystem, Australian medtech companies have created solutions that have advanced the quality of healthcare, improved patient outcomes, and ultimately saved lives across the world. From the bionic eye to the electronic pacemaker and spray-on artificial skin, Australia’s medtech industry punches above its weight and is today the largest sector within Australia’s life sciences industry.

A growing sector, with global impact for greater good: as revealed in AusBiotech-commissioned research, the medtech sector is rapidly expanding, with 50 percent growth between 2019 and 2022, for the first time exceeding the number of therapeutic companies developing life-enhancing and life-saving technologies in Australia. Australia’s medtech industry is poised for further growth, with the sector expected to reach a market value of US$7.96 billion this year, with medical devices representing the largest segment, with its market volume expected to also reach US$6.73bn this year.  

AusMedtechInvest builds on AusBiotech’s well-established investment attraction programme, that for almost 15 years has helped Australian life sciences companies connect with international capital markets and empower them to be competitive on a global scale by: leading companies to global investment hubs; arranging access to opportunities for collaboration and partnerships; and providing investor support and education, both domestically and internationally.

AusBiotech’s investment programme is supported by an advisory group of life science investment experts, provides resources, events, and advocacy for and on behalf of the industry, with the aim of connecting the investment community and investment-seeking life science companies. This enables breakthrough ideas to attract risk-tolerant capital while also assisting investors to connect with innovative, Australian companies that offer high-value return-on-investment and significant social benefit
